This works only once during the first power-on/setup of the new phone. You can't restore a backup to an already-in-use device.
Step 1. Create a backup on your old phone
(the exact path may vary)
• Google Pixel: Settings → System → Back up
• Samsung: Settings → Accounts and backup → Google Drive → Back up data
Make sure Other device data (App Data) is On → Back up now.
Step 2. Verify the backup on the old phone
1. Open the Google Drive app
2. Tap the menu icon (≡) → Backups
3. Open your device's backup (e.g., Galaxy A32 backup)
4. App data → find the app to transfer → check save size and last backup date (to ensure the backup is recent and available)
Step 3. Restore on the new phone
1. During the initial setup of the new device, sign in to the same Google account
2. Select the backup to restore
3. Ensure the app you want to transfer is checked
4. Complete setup—the app installs with your progress intact ✅
